Set up your catalogue

Your catalogue is the foundation everything else stands on — quotes, availability, and warehouse scanning all key off the gear you enter here. Order matters: categories first, then models, then the physical units.

This page is scaffolded — the outline below is what it will cover. Progress is tracked in gearflow#959.

What this page will cover

  • Who can do this: members with asset management permissions
  • The three layers, in one picture: categorymodel (the spec, with rates) → asset (a serialised unit) or bulk stock (a counted quantity)
  • Creating your category tree
  • Adding models with rental rates — the rates your quotes will pull from
  • Adding serialised assets (auto-numbered tags) vs bulk quantities
  • Importing from a spreadsheet (CSV) instead of typing it all in
  • When to build kits — pointer to Kits
  • Screenshot: models list + add-asset form
